CerberusGate Ghidorah was called Monster Zero in Invasion of Astro-Monster long before Legendary's Monsterverse. If anything, Legendary was showing respect to Toho's films by referring to Ghidorah as Monster Zero.

TokyoPanic Monster Zero was what Ghidorah was what the Xiliens called Ghidorah in Invasion of Astro Monster way back in 1965.

Edit: OR he is the experiment result in order to counter Godzilla, explaining the "fight fire with fire" quote.

Loved the minus one for the human drama, hope they get that right again. But Shikishima is back and I felt like his journey and development was already complete.

Kitsuraw Excited for this, back to a more grounded Godzilla experience. The monster verse series is fun but has gotten to be a little comical compared to how serious the start felt.
(アメリカ版の「モンスター・バース」シリーズも面白いけど初期のシリアスな雰囲気に比べると最近は少しコミカルになりすぎていた気がするし、また現実路線のゴジラが見れると思うと実に楽しみだ)

Stevenwave Yep, direct sequel. If you're into monster stuff at all, GMO is very much worth a watch. I also found it really intriguing regarding the direct aftermath of WW2 and its lasting effects on Japanese survivors, particularly those who were in the war. A lot of people might ignore the film, thinking it'll be nothing but silly or fantastical monster stuff, but it's legit got some really nice drama and humanity to it.
(前回の映画から直接続く続編だ。怪獣ものが少しでも好きなら『ゴジラ-1.0』は絶対に見る価値があるぞ。第二次世界大戦の直後という時代背景や生き残った日本人、特に戦地から戻った人々に与えた影響の描き方も非常に興味深かった。単なるバカげた、あるいは荒唐無稽な怪獣映画だと思ってスルーしてしまう人もいるだろうがそれはあまりにももったいない、素晴らしいドラマと人間味のある名作だ)
